You've Got More Faith
Than You Realize
by
William M. Verch
I took my life in my hands today. And probably,
so did you.
Did you go anywhere in a car today? Tell me, before you got
in the car, did you check the lug nuts that hold the wheels onto the
car?
WHAT?! You didn't?! Don't you realize that if those lug nuts
came spinning off, that the wheels would fly off your car and you would
go careening into an accident and could very easily die?
You and I didn't check those lug nuts because of a very simple
reason. You've experienced enough car rides that you had FAITH
that your wheels would be secure. We live our lives, making life
and death decisions, based on simple faith in things we've previously
experienced.
God's Set Up
When people talk about faith in God, they make it
sound so other-worldly. The truth is that practical, everyday faith in
God can become as comfortable as breathing. We just need more practice
with it and we need more realization that we live in faith all the time.
God has chosen to set up our existence on this planet to be lived in faith.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because
anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He
rewards those who earnestly seek Him. - Hebrews 11:6
Why It's So Hard
To be honest, living in faith with God is more
difficult than relying on lug nuts. The reason is that there will be
times, many times even, when we're counting on God and He doesn't come
through - THE WAY WE'D LIKE. That, of course, is the key. We so much
want to tell God what to do.
Think of being a disciple of Jesus and then watching Him be arrested and
then crucified. That surely must have felt like God didn't know what
He was doing at all. Yet, He knew EXACTLY what He was doing and He knows
EXACTLY what He's doing with YOUR life. God tells us over and over again
that He is in control and for us not to be afraid.
He knows how much you hurt.
There is an obscure verse in Psalms that touches the deepest part of me:
You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears
in Your bottle: Are they not in Your book? - Psalm 56:8
How incredibly, powerfully personal, that Almighty God has put my tears in His bottle.
I want to encourage you to strengthen your faith. God is trustworthy. You can
put your life - all of your life - in His hands.
The more you use
faith and the more you realize the faith that you already have, the
stronger it becomes. It's a gift from God and it will bring you
peace and make you feel loved.
In His Love,
Bill
P.S. Please pray for this ministry, that
I could help people to know the Lord.
